I have been working for several years with the help of Chinese master artist Gong Yi Wang. I am not a Chinese speaker but have assimilated much of the Chinese calligraphic style and method. I understand Chinese calligraphy as a pure abstract form having the capacity within it for free expression of the artist's inner energy. The calligraphic brush habit then extends to drawing in an often surprising way. |
