Artist's Reception: Saturday, November 2, 2002, 5 to 8pm
Sam Jungkurth has been a professional New York artist for three decades, exhibiting in various galleries and cultural institutions. Jungkurth is unafraid to explore new ways of creating images. He tends to work in series, developing themes from "Bathers" to "Woody and Dolly." Serial painting and drawing create an intimacy. The light and color permeate and add to the drama. There is a dialogue between imagination and the pictorial world.
"My recent paintings are multi-paneled constructions. Within these arrangements exists the illusion of time and space. The images interact with the viewer who is drawn into the work to investigate and personalize."
Jungkurth has been featured in various New York publications including The Daily News, The Brooklyn Paper, Queens Courier and The Phoenix. Artspeak reviewed Idylls of Daphne in 1989, and Newsday wrote about Linear Geometric Abstraction in 1999.
